Record Breaking Success!

Solpoll 1 Kitkat sold for 10,800gns breaking the record price for a bull sold in Hereford for the second time in minutes after Solpoll 1 Karate Kid sold for 10,500gns Solpoll 1 Landmark had been placed Reserve Male Champion in the showing and sold for 8200gns  All three were sired by Panmure 1 Henry leaving a healthy average of £10,325! 13 month old Solpoll 1 Lamborghini stood second to the Champion and sold for 4800gns leaving a total average for the 4 bulls of £9004.


In the Female Section Solitude 1 Helen L485 sold for 5200gns setting a new centre record price for a female. A fellow Henry daughter Solpoll 1 Stardust K20 stood Reserve Female Champion and sold for 4200gns. Our other 2 female entries Starlet K23 and Amber L8 sold for 3800gns and 3900gns leaving an average for our 4 females of £4489! A day to remember for Solpoll Herefords!

Gilbert progeny leaving their mark!

Dendor 1 Molly 41st, an October 2012 born heifer has begun the show season in style, being Supreme Hereford and Interbred Champion at Shropshire Show. Her great grand dam Dendor 1 Molly 4th, a Solpoll 1 Lionheart daughter also bred a Poll Show Champion.

Royal Ulster Success!

Solpoll 1 Starlet J19 took the Supreme Champion award for her new owners A & A Armour. The first progeny of Henry didn't/t disappoint with 1sts in the pair and group and 1st & 2nd in Junior heifer class and Klinsmann taking the native Beef performance class. Solitude 1 Kingdom was Reserve male Champion, with Stella J11 being 2nd in class to the Champion, all in all a successful show!


































New UK Record Price!

Solpoll 1 Stella C16 has set a new record price for a Hereford female sold in the UK when she sold for £12 000 to David & Maggie Kelly. She sold alongside her 4 month old heifer calf Stella K27 who was sired by Panmure 1 Henry.

Premier Sale Success!

We exhibited 3 bulls and a heifer at the 2014 N.I.H.B.A Premier Sale. Solpoll 1 Juggler by Dynamite sold for the Joint Top Price at 3300gns and Solpoll 1 Jubilee by Fisher 1 Charlie was the Reserve Champion and sold for 2700gns, Solpoll 1 Karl, the youngest bull in the sale also found a new home leaving an average of £2905. Solpoll 1 Stardust J12 sold for 2000gns to Paul Beatty.

Top Prices at April Sale!

Solpoll 1 Kingpin was Champion and sold for the Top Price of 3400gns at the April Sale in Dungannon. Sired by Dynamite he was out of a Christies 1 Radar dam. Selling for second top price was 14 month old Solpoll 1 Knockout sired by Fisher 1 Charlie who sold for 3100gns.

Pair of the Year 2014!

The Solpoll herd has won the N.I. Pair of the Year award with progeny of Panmure 1 Henry after gaining maximum points from the eligible shows. Victories at the Royal Ulster and Armagh were followed up with wins at Castlewellan and Clogher Valley Shows.

Calf Champion at National!

Stella L2 by Henry was Calf Champion at the N.I. National Show. Klinsmann was Reserve Male Champion and Dainty K18 and Stardust K20 were 2nd and 3rd in the largest class of the day. We also won the pairs and groups competitions.

National Herd of the Year 2014!

The Solpoll herd was named as the Top Herd in the UK when the results of the National Herd’s Competition were announced at the Hereford Cattle Society’s Annual Dinner. This is the first time we have won this award after twice previously being placed in the Top 3. Further success followed when Solpoll 1 Gilbert was named Sire of the Year and his daughter Dendor 1 Molly 41st was confirmed as the UK Female of the Year for 2014.

Henry sets another first!

The UK Sire of the Year is Panmure 1 Henry, a first for a sire resident in Northern Ireland.

Its been a great year for Henry, with his progeny dominating the show ring collecting enough points from qualifying shows to crown him Sire of the Year.

Spearheaded by Stella L2, Royal Ulster & National Champion & Female of the Year, Lawyer Reserve Male Champion Royal Ulster & National & Bull of the Year along with numerous other prize winners, see Show success page.


However, it was at the business end - in the sale ring, where Panmure 1 Henry’s progeny performed the best. His progeny sold for the highest prices at the three Northern Ireland Shows & Sales to crown him the N.I. Sire of the Year. At the Spring Show & Sale held at Hereford Market, three “Henry” sons sold for the top prices of 10,800, 10,500 & 8,200gns respectively and a daughter sold for the top price of 5,200gns

Another strong spring sale!

After last years record breaking spring sale it was always going to be hard to repeat, but  our 2 sons of Henry both won their classes and sold for the 2nd & 3rd best prices of 8400gns and 8000gns. Milkyway a full brother to Kitkat sold to Wychnor herd with Lawyer, last years Joint NI Bull of the Year joining the  Bromham herd. Our other bull entries, Maverick stood second to Milkyway and sold for 6000gns to top commercial herd Spendlove bros. Mr Daffy was also a 1st prize winner and sold at 5400gns to H Richardson. 

Our heifers were also in big demand with 5 maidens averaging £4242. Topping our trade was the 1st prize winner Starlet M8 a full sister to M10 Female Champion at the Calf show selling for 5500gns to Kilvrough herd, Swansea with Peter Vaughan purchasing the Panmure 1 Henry daughters Starlet M14 & M1 for 4200gns & 3600gns to join Dynamite at the Kingsland herd. The 2nd prize winner Starlet M6 by Keno sold for 3600gns to join AG Whittle with Starlet M9 selling to E Pierce for 3300gns again by Henry.

National Herd of the Year..again!

The Solpoll herd was named as the Top Herd in the UK when the results of the National Herd’s Competition were announced at the Hereford Cattle Society’s Annual Dinner. This is the first time the award has been retained in its history following up on our win in 2014. Further success followed that night when we were placed Reserve Sire of the Year with Henry and finished 3rd in Show herd of the Year. Solpoll 1 Gilbert was named Sire of the Year for a second time and his daughter Dendor 1 Lilac Wine was confirmed as the UK Female of the Year for 2016.













National sells to Scotland!

We are delighted John and Margaret Cameron of Baldinnie Herefords have selected Solpoll 1 national to become their new Junior Stock Bull. National was Junior champion at eh Royal Ulster Sow in 2017. He is sired by Dynamite and out of Starlet K18, a daughter of Henry who herself had a successful show career. 

Pounder joins A.I. Services!

Pounder was one of our most admired calves last year and he caught the eye of Robin Boyd who selected him to join the bull line up of A.I. Services. His semen will be available throughout the UK and Ireland. His full sister has produced some fantastic ET calves and his full brother is a stand out calf in the group.

No.1 for Superior Carcase sires!

We are very pleased to see that our herd is leading the way in having more Superior Carcase Sires identified than any other herd in the UK. There is a very strict set of criteria (available to view here) and as a result only 87 bulls currently qualify with 14 of those coming from our herd!

Semen Sales going strong!

We have recently exported semen from Dynamite and Henry to Germany. We hope the bulls can make as big an impact over there as they have in the UK. Both bulls have had semen exported to other European countries previously.

150th Royal Ulster Success!

Another successful Royal Ulster with Starlet P2 taking the herds 13th Balmoral Championship. A Panmure 1 Henry daughter she is the 3rd Henry daughter to lift the Supreme Championship in the last 4 years, see show success for more details.
